The Religious Studies department were delighted to welcome Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin as a keynote speaker during our sixth form conference day in July, which focused on the extent to which religion promotes gender equality. Alongside a visit from philosopher and humanist Richard Norman, students took part in a variety of debates on the relationship between religion and gender equality.

In the afternoon, students were given the opportunity to learn about Bishop Rose's life and ministry, including her perspective on what the Church of England contributes towards gender equality and her experience as Britain's first black female bishop. Our students were captivated and inspired by the Bishop's story and the department were thrilled to host such an important figure.
